Why calling yourself a liberal or progressive does not automatically make you my ally.

thepoliticalpartygirl:

It is becoming increasingly apparent just how expendable women are in the “liberal” or “progressive” movement. Abortion rights revoked in the health care bill, rape apologism, sexist remarks all over the white, male-dominated media. You want our support, but you won’t support us. You don’t get to pass Lilly Ledbetter, pat yourselves on the back, smile for a photo op with a bunch of women, then turn around and forget that inequality still exists — just look how much you’ve done for us! As soon as our lady rights get in the way of your agenda, we’re just whiny bitches. Whiny, ungrateful bitches who lie, have sex with men, claim it was rape, and then ask for police investigations and access to proper health care and abortion rights. And WHY CAN’T WE JUST SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE? You know, the bigger picture where the first items on the legislative and moral chopping block are those that pertain to women and minorities.  And yet we sit and wonder why the left can’t get its act together and unite for “progressive causes.”

Because my causes are not your causes. That is abundantly clear. My causes are only worth considering when it’s convenient. Otherwise, “Step aside while the big boys take care of business, and try not to notice how we trampled all over your rights as a person in the name of progress.”
